Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 July 2026
Cupboard is a drink-logging app for iOS. It has a companion website (cupboard-app.com). This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what happens to it. In short: we collect what the app needs to work. We do not run ads. We do not sell your data.
What we collect
Account
- Email address and password. You use them to sign in. We store the password only as a hash.
- Sign in with Apple: we receive your email address (or Apple’s private relay address) and a sign-in identifier. We do not store your name.
- Display name, username, and an optional avatar photo.
Content you create
- A log records the establishment, the drink, the price, the rating, the notes, and the date.
- The photos that you attach to a log.
- The establishment and menu submissions that you send for review.
Social
- Friend requests and your accepted-friends list.
- Your likes on friends’ logs.
Location
The app uses your device location to sort nearby places and to centre the map. When you use those features, the app sends your coordinates to our server to find the shops near you. The server answers the request and does not store your coordinates. A log records the establishment that you chose, not where you were.
What we don’t collect
We collect no advertising identifiers. We use no third-party ad or social trackers. We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
How your content is shared
Cupboard uses a mutual-friend model. Your logs are visible to you and to friends that you have accepted. A log marked private is visible only to you. There is no public feed. We store photos on our hosting provider. We serve them through direct links. Treat anything that you upload as reachable by anyone who has the link.
Where your data lives
We store data with Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage). Resend delivers transactional email, such as confirmation and password-reset messages. Both companies process data for us. Neither company uses it for its own purposes.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. When you delete a log or a photo, we remove it. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, logs, photos, and friend connections with it.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from the app. Tap your avatar, open Account Settings, then Delete Account. Deletion is permanent. Step-by-step instructions are on our Support page.
Your rights
You can access and update your profile in the app. You can request a copy or a correction of your data. To do this, contact us. You may have additional rights under local data-protection law, such as the PDPA or the GDPR. Your rights depend on where you live. We honour reasonable requests, wherever you are.
Children
Cupboard is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe that a child has created an account, contact us. We will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in an important way, we will update the date above. We will also note the change in the app or by email.
